Ole Miss Gameday: Do’s and Don’ts

DON’T: SHOW UP TO THE GROVE WITH ANY COLOR

DO: DRESS ACCORDINGLY TO THE COLOR OF THE GAME

There is a schedule that lists the color that all Ole Miss fans are urged to wear. The attire for football games usually includes collared shirts, dresses, or jerseys depending on the weather. Students in Oxford take pride in their appearance at these football games. University Sporting Goods, on the Square, offers great apparel and accessories to help you be the best dressed at any Ole Miss game!

DON’T: MISS ANY PREGAME ACTIVITIES OFFERED IN THE GROVE

DO: SHOW UP IN TIME FOR THE WALK OF CHAMPIONS, TAILGATING, AND GROVE SHOW

In Oxford, there are plenty of activities offered for fans prior to kickoff. One special game day event includes the Walk of Champions. The Walk of Champions begins two hours and 15 minutes prior to kickoff of each game. Fans line up and cheer on the football team as they walk through the Grove and to Vaught-Hemmingway Stadium.

Tailgating takes place in the Grove and the Circle on the Ole Miss campus. Tailgating in Oxford is like no other! This time is meant to bring fans together for fellowship, good food, and beverages. Year after year, the Grove makes USA Today’s list of best tailgating in the country.

The Grove Show is right after the Walk of Champions and takes place at the Grove stage. Members of the Ole Miss Cheerleading and Dance Team and the Ole Miss Band, The Pride of the South, gather here and put on a little show to get fans hype before the game!

DON’T: GET CAUGHT IN GAME DAY TRAFFIC

DO: PLAN AHEAD OF HOW YOU WILL GET TO THE GAME

Being that Oxford is a small town, getting anywhere on game days can take a while. Make sure to plan your transportation ahead and allow yourself plenty of time to get to the Grove or the game. Parking is extremely limited so you could check out local taxis, Uber, Lyft, or walk if you are in walking distance.
